Dentures are used to replace missing teeth. They are removable devices. There are two main types of dentures. They are:
- Partial and
- Complete dentures.
Partial Dentures: Partial dentures consist of replacement teeth attached to a pink or gum-colored plastic base, which will be connected by metal framework that can hold the denture in place. Partial dentures are used when you need to replace only one teeth or some of the missing tooth. They will be made of metals and attach them to the natural teeth. They can be used as an alternative to bridges.
Complete Dentures: Complete dentures are removable dentures that can replace the whole tooth. They can be of two types- conventional or immediate. Conventional dentures are placed only when the tissue is healed after removing the whole tooth. The process of healing may take several months time. Whereas, immediate dentures can be placed right after the removal. You don't have to be without tooth like in the conventional denture.
