Pit and fissure Sealants

Pits and fissures are the top surfaces of the teeth. The plaques that rescue from the flossing and brushing usually finds this as the safest place in the mouth and they stay there. This causes developing cavities over the pits and fissures. In order to prevent the development of cavities, what dentist usually do is to seal the pits and fissures with a special varnish. It is called sealants. For this, the dentist will first prepare your teeth. The first step is to clean the tooth or teeth which require sealant. After that, a mild acid solution will be applied to imprint the surface. It can make it easier for the pit and fissure to stick. All these procedures can be finished quickly and painlessly. It is important to keep the required area dry and away from the saliva during the procedure. Wet teeth make it difficult to stick the sealants properly. After finishing all the other procedures, the dentist will paint the sealant exactly over the pits and fissures on the tooth surface. A special kind of light is used to cure the sealants and makes it ready to use.

It is better to seal the pit and fissure before cavities damage your teeth completely. Sealants can protect the teeth from decaying.
